Type 4 hair can be either high or low porosity, but they’re more likely to be high porosity - and they’re more prone to breakage and damage. Moisture keeps the hair hydrated, while protein strengthens and repairs. “Protein will help coily hair in humidity, because there will be less holes for it to absorb the moisture from the air,” says Dylan.
